ABOUT:

Owner, Alex MacLachlan is an Escondido Native who grew up just blocks from the California Avocado Grill site on Grand Avenue. The house he grew up in was literally built around avocado trees leftover from an old Fuerte Avocado Grove, making it, perhaps, one of the least energy efficient homes in town.

Later in life, after discussing the benefits of avocado orchard ownership with an up and coming leader in the California avocado industry, Alex was convinced this kind of lifestyle fit him well. The only knowledge he had of avocado trees was that they were good for climbing, building tree houses and supplying ammunition for mischievous boys. After several years of avocado farming, a newly built home, and a growing family, Alex saw dangers on the horizon that were starting to threaten farmers throughout California. Out of this threat bore the idea of the California Avocado Grill, a restaurant that would showcase the quintessential California fruit, the California Avocado. There isn't a fruit more tied to the Southern California culture, lifestyle and heritage, so we decided to treat it that way. Whether it's guacamole, stuffed avocados on the half shell, extra virgin avocado oil or a take home bag of our fresh California avocados, there is surely something for avocado lovers alike at California Avocado Grill.

Our menu was created to entice the taste buds of Avocado Lovers of all kinds. A variety of options are available from light & healthy dishes to hearty entrees. American classics, Gourmex (Gourmet Mexican), 1/2 LB Angus Burgers, Soups and Salads are all complimented by our fresh California Grown Avocados.
